Hello again readers. First of all, I would like thank you guys for the continuous support shown to my blog even though the blog has been in cold storage for quite a while. It's not that I have lose out the interest in blogging, but the fact is that I'm really busy with my work and I sincerely apologize for the lack of updates.

Before I continued on where I left from my previous post, there is a breakfast feast going on in Malaysia. Mcdonald's Malaysia is rewarding the whole Malaysian 2 sets of Big Breakfast to show their appreciation in bagging the Gold Putra Brand Award for the second consecutive year. To redeem, just present the coupon and spend RM 5 above in a single receipt at any Mcdonald's breakfast serving outlet from 15th March to 31st March 2011.
The 2 Free Big Breakfast coupon
Get it from the Mcdonald's promoters or simply print them from the Mcdonald's facebook fan page.

My first redemption of the big breakfast happened last week at Mcdonald's Sunway Mentari when I stayed up to the wee hours for work purposes. I have heard that people been queuing up all the way to the entrance during the peak time from 6.30am to 11am, so I thought going there to redeem at 4 in the morning would be the best choice.
Mcdonald's Sunway Mentari Business Park

As expected, the crowd has not shown up yet. I've got no complain at all as I did not need to queue up to have my orders ready.
The scene at 4am

To redeem the big breakfast, I ordered two sets of Mcdonald's Weekday Special (W4) in which each set consist of a Sausage Mcmuffin and a cup of Arabic hot coffee.
W4: Sausage Mcmuffin (RM 4.50 per set)

Here's the 2 set of free big breakfast when you spend above RM 5 at any Mcdonald's breakfast serving outlet.
Who doesn't like 2 sets of free big breakfast?

A big breakfast set consists of hash brown, 2 slices of muffin, a slice of grilled chicken sausage and scramble eggs.
Mcdonald's Big Breakfast Set (NP: RM 6.90 per set)
While the scrambled eggs and the sausages are pretty normal, the toasted muffins deserved mentioning for it's crisp exterior while maintaining a soft texture bite. The hash brown were just as great with a mushy bite of real potatoes.

You can have your own mixture of orders to top the bill to RM 5 and above. As for me, I think the most value for money to redeem the big breakfast is to order two sets of Sausage Mcmuffin (W4). Not only that you get 2 cup of tea or coffee, you will also get another two Sausage Mcmuffin. Now, isn't that sharing is caring?
Everything here costs only Rm 8.50 after tax

There are 2 more days left before this promotion runs out. Hurry up to your nearest Mcdonald's to grab some free big breakfast. To avoid queuing up long, the advisable time to grab your big breakfast will be from 4am to 6.30am. Unless you are ready to queue for at least 45 minutes to grab a breakfast, it is advisable to avoid the period of time from 6.30am to 11am whilst this promotion is still ongoing.

I have already redeemed the big breakfast four times. Suddenly, I realized that I'm leading a healthy lifestyle by having breakfast so early in the morning, all thanks to Mcdonalds.

Thank you so much Mcdonald's Malaysia for your generous offer to show your appreciation to us Malaysian towards our support to you.

Food: 7/10
Price: 10/10
Verdict: You would not get any cheaper breakfast promotion than this.

G.C.B Burger Mcdonald's Malaysia @ Sunway Mentari

Mcdonald's Malaysia has always been very innovative in their business models be it in term of marketing or even on the food menu. This time round, another new burger is added to the menu. Named as the trademark G.C.B or Grilled Chicken Burger, it will only be in the menu for a limited time.

I had heard positive feedback about this burger from my friends and since it will only be featured for a limited time, I decided to give it a try.
Mcdonald's Malaysia GCB

The packing and the shape is pretty similar to the Prosperity Chicken Burger. The tag line was "What's your G?". "Glorious", "Gorgeous", "Good-e-licious", "Great", or even "Grilled" to any G you can think of to represent the G in G.C.B.
Long and oval shape

Upon unwrapping, you will notice a fairly thick piece of chicken together with their specialty white sauce lurking out from the side of the sesame bun.
Grilled Chicken Burger

The real chicken thigh meat is used instead of those typical burger patty. As the meat is grilled, it would mean lesser oil content and this should be very much welcome by those diet watcher.
100 % chicken thigh meat
My first bite unfolded the juiciness of the chicken thigh. The meat was well marinated and grilled perfectly, maintaining the smoothness and tenderness of the chicken meat. The specialty white gravy added some tangy taste to sweetness of the meat, making it all well to go with the soft sesame bun.

Mcdonald's G.C.B. McValue Set (RM 11.90 for Medium set)

I must admit that G.C.B is indeed delicious and this proved that why people had been giving good response to it. However, I must say that the price is on the higher side though and it is a pity that Mcdonald's did not include them in the McValue Lunch deal.

Food: 7/10
Price: 4.5/10
Verdict: One of the better burger in Mcdonald's menu but price is on the higher side.

Double Fortune Chicken Burger A & W @ 3K Kompleks, Subang Jaya

Barely a week before the Chinese New Year, I received a leaflet from A & W about their latest product, Double Fortune Burger. The leaflet caught my attention with the slogan of "How to Double Your Fortune". If we had this burger coupled with Mcdonald's Double Prosperity Burger, I guess it will result to a Double Prosperity and Fortune for the year. Who doesn't want extra fortune?

For some reason, I was not able to patronize A & W outlet, not until the 10th Day of the Tiger Year. I was with Hock Beng and we thought it was good for a visit to the once our favourite hang out place A &W outlet located at 3K Kompleks, Subang Jaya for some supper.

This is one of the two A & W outlet that operates on a 24 hour basis with the other one being at the State.
It was 1am, and obviously the outlet was pretty empty.
The open air area

My favourite soft drink
Best to drink from the mug, minus the straw!

Curly Fries
Gotta be my favourite curly fries from the fast food chain.

Honestly, I can count the amount of time I had A & W burgers last year with a single hand. That showed how 'often' I patronize A & W, and for some reason, it doesn't seems to appeal to a lot people as compared to other fast food chain. Anything it is, this is the time for a Double Fortune Burger.
Double Fortune Chicken Burger
Double chicken patties topped with sliced onions, buttons mushrooms and then drizzled with peppery mushroom sauce. The combo set priced at RM 11.80 that comes with one regular French Fries and one regular Root Beer.

Double Fortune Chicken Burger
It was very much a resemblance of the Swiss Mushroom burger from Burger King, with an exception that the mushroom servings here were more generous. The crunchy sliced onions added some extra chew, but what I liked the most was the dry burger! It was not messy and I have no problem holding the whole burger intact. Even though they claimed the toppings consisted of peppery mushroom sauce, it was however doesn't taste pepperish.

This is what my buddy had.
Double Mozza
Diced chicken meat and lettuce were being sandwiched by a quarter size of waffle. I did not try it, but my buddy say it was alright.

For now, the Double Fortune Burger is no longer in the menu. Hopefully, they will revive this product in the coming Chinese New Year and I will be sure to grab one of it!

Taste: 6/10
Price: 5/10
Verdict: Eating a burger was made easy with the not soggy Double Fortune burger!

Oblong Burger @ Ramley Stall

A month ago while I was visiting a Ramley stall for a Ramley Burger, I came across an advertisement about a new burger which is called "Oblong". Since, it has always crossed my mind, and I finally decided to give it a try on a night after my chilling session.
I'm not sure on the availability of this burger at every Ramley stall. Fortunately, the one very near to my place did offer this product. Being curious, I did ask them, how does that burger look like. The burger-men told me that it does look like Mcdonald's Prosperity Burger but taste better. Wow, it makes me even more excited while waiting!
Oblong Burger

The Oblong burger came with a choice of beef or chicken patty. I chose the chicken since I can't consume beef.
The burger came with a long chicken patty, slices of onions and cucumbers. It was then soaked in the Oblong sauce which is a little sweet with very light hint of spiciness. I prefer the sauce to be a bit spicy though, but I thought it was good for those without the "chili tongue".

The juicy and succulent chicken patty
The meat patty was alright but the bun was way too soft. The bun got soggy too fast and making it almost impossible to hold the burger in tact.

The Oblong burger was very fillings. It definitely fills my stomach more than the ordinary Ramley Burger. At RM 3 for a Oblong, it does qualified as a decent roadside burger that regarded as one of the cheap, nice and decent food. And now you know why I just love roadside stall burger!

Burger: 5.5/10
Price: 7/10
Verdict: Definitely a burger that is worth trying!

Location: Any roadside Ramley burger stall

Double Chicken Prosperity Burger @ Mcdonalds, Sunway Mentari

For the past few years, Mcdonald's has been introducing the prosperity burger a month before the Chinese New Year. It was supposed to be serve for a limited time only. Back then, the prosperity burger was out of stock so quickly even before the start of Chinese New Year.

This time round, Mcdonald's launches the prosperity burger way earlier(somewhere in November 2009) with the campaign of "Return of the Loved One". And just weeks ago, Mcdonald's launches yet another limited time burger, this time, The Double Prosperity Burger.

Time to unwrap
I always stick to chicken meat since I don't consume beef.

Double Chicken Prosperity Burger
Two meat patty heavily soaked with black pepper sauce, topped with slices of onions.

Double meat patty
So here it is, you have a very meaty, a strong taste of black pepper and onion smell burger. The chicken patty is a little bit soggy because of the heavy soaking of black pepper sauce.I couldn't feel the presence of the bread because the chicken meat was all over.
This burger does gave a very strong burning sensation to your tongue even after consumption. Definitely, not a burger for those who can't stand very spicy food.

A well prepared prosperity burger
Credits should be given to this Sunway Mentari outlet as they prepared the burger pretty well instead of the usually messy prosperity burger encountered at some other outlets. At least I did not messed up myself and I do not have a problem holding on to the whole burger by itself.

Curly Fries
The curly fries tasted way too salty for my preference.

RM 15 for the set
One double prosperity, one carbonated drinks and a regular curly fries that costs me a whopping RM 15, and that was during the McValue lunch hour from 12pm-3pm! I remembered they serve Orange Fizzy drink last time as part of the set. What a pity that they replaced it with a normal carbonated drinks for now.

I would not order the set anymore for the next coming weeks even though it was only for a limited time. Obviously, I do feel very full after the meaty prosperity burger but that is after I forking out a whopping RM 15 for just a very average burger. At RM 15, I could easily buy a whole loads of roadside Ramley burger with extra cheese, egg, patty and more!

Taste: 5/10
Price: 4/10
Verdict: Eat it only for the sake of trying it and being prosperous.

Location: Any Mcdonald's outlet in Malaysia
