Restaurant Yap Yin @ Seri Kembangan

After much discussion, we decided to patronise a stall at Seri Kembangan for our brunch after the Broga Hill. According to Mei Kheng, this is supposedly a stall that is famous for it's Bak Kut Teh and the steamed Stone Head fish(sang yu). The dish was served to the table quite fast. Maybe it was because the crowd has not turn up at the time we were eating.

The Chinese banner of the stall

Stir Fried Lettuce (RM 8)
Even though it tasted very normal, we couldn't complain much as the lettuce is indeed very fresh. Crunchy~

Fried Sotong Coated with Salted Egg Yolk (RM 18)
Oh man, this dish is the bomb. It was crispy outside and it melts in your mouth tasting every inch of the salted egg yolk. Sotong is fresh and crunchy.A very sinful dish indeed after a healthy day out, but man, who cares? Just awesome.

Steamed Stone Head fish (RM 32)
The signature dish of the restaurant. Fresh "Sang Yu" being steamed and served on a platter heated with fire beneath. The meat is white and juicy. So good, that this fish was the first dish to be finished up, even though majority of us do not fancy fish.

HomeMade Fried Taufoo Drizzled with Soya Sauce (RM 10)
The signature dish recommended by the waitress. Disappointed! We were expecting a better one. The TauFoo is crispy in the outside while maintaing it's smoothness inside. However, the taufoo is tasteless and it doesn't live up to the expectation of a signature dish.

Bak Kut Teh (RM 30 for 3 pax)
Something new here. The BKT soup here tasted very different from the one I have tasted around. Really live up to the expectation of the signature dish. Was it because of the different herbs that they used? Definitely will be back for this BKT. However, the portion was kinda small though.

It costed us RM 110 which includes rice and tea.

It's the stall by the roadside

We were all satisfied with the brunch at this stall. No complain at all minus the Tau Foo which tasted below average. I was told that the stall start operating as early as 8am.

Atmosphere: 5/10
Food: 7/10 (non-halal)
Price: 6/10
Verdict: Bak Kut Teh portion was small but the soup was superb! Great food with a reasonable price.

Location: Head to the South City Plaza. The stall is located very near to the morning market at Seri Kembangan.
