Tokyo-G @ Sunway Pyramid

It was after the Sherlock Holmes movie. I do not know what is the hoo-haa about this movie, but somehow I do not think it is a great movie. To be honest, I fell asleep half way through the movie. Maybe, I do not read the book or I just do not know how to enjoy British movie, minus 007.

It was going to be 4pm soon and we were hungry. Since it has been a long time I last had Japanese, we decided to visit Tokyo-G. Well, this is not the first time I dine in this restaurant. In fact I dined there a few times when they were still known as Sushi Groove.

The warm ambiance

Green Tea
They do offer other drinks such as fizzy drinks and some alcoholic drinks ranging from beer to sakae. However, I personally think that nothing beats the Green Tea when it comes to sushi.

We quickly get down to the menu. We initially planned to order 2 platter of sushi and another bento set. However, we changed our mind because we were told that there were a free platter of sushi of our choice for us upon ordering every 3 platters. Obviously, the free platter will the one that is the lowest value of the rest.

Teriyaki Chicken Roll (RM 8.90)
Fried chicken roll dressed in Teriyaki sauce topped with fried garlic
The filling of this sushi is crunchy mainly because the presence of the fried chicken. The garnishing of the mayonnaise were for your dipping if you are a mayonnaise lover.

Flying Fish Roll (RM 12.90)
Crunchy roll topped with fresh tuna and unagi in sweet and spicy sauce
This is one of my favourite sushi here. The fresh tuna and the unagi blends nicely, creating an exquisite mixture of taste between raw and cooked fish meat.

Battleship Horenzo Roll (RM 9.90)
Crispy inari wrapped roll filled with baked salmon and spinach
The sushi tasted too sweet, maybe because of the sweet inari. The sweetness kills of other taste of the sushi as I can't taste the presence of the Salmon.

Dynamite ball (RM 9.90)
Salmon wrapped rice balls baked with special Dynamite sauce
I guess that the Dyamite Sauce were actually mayonnaise. The salmon meat was grilled nicely. The topping of the fish egg adds extra sweetness to the ball. A not to missed sushi if you are a big fan of salmon.

My partner in crime for the day, Zoe

The total bill came up to RM 40.55 after service charges and tax. However, thanks to the 2 pieces of RM 10 voucher promotion that we got it from the entrance, we needed to fork up RM 30.55 only for the meal. I suppose it was a bargain. I do not know whether the promotion of the voucher is still on, but definitely this is a place I will visit again when I'm craving for sushi.

Atmosphere: 7/10
Food: 6/10
Price: 5/10
Verdict: A place to be for some groovy and modern twist of fresh sushi
